Unable to break the Wanganui defence, Thames Valley had to rely on the goal-kicking of Reece Broughton, who landed five penalty goals, for all of its points. Wanganui scored two tries.
They will travel to Oamaru to play North Otago who were pushed hard all the way by Wairarapa Bush before the home team won 27-25. Two late tries to Wairarapa Bush had home fans sweating before the win was completed. The last time North Otago claimed the Meads Cup was in 2007 while Wanganui last held it in 2017.
West Coast continued to set the pace in the Lochore Cup, but not before given a shake-up by Poverty Bay. The game ended with a 41-35 win to the home side who will now meet South Canterbury in next weekend's final. South Canterbury travelled to Westport and beat the home 56-24.
