Few teams can match the strike power available to the Steamers out wide.Despite Fehi Fineanganofo and Leroy Carter set to spend most of the season on international duties, Emoni Narawa is joined by the experienced Joe Webber and several All Blacks Sevens stars including Frank Vaenuku and Roderick Solo.
Adding another layer of excitement is the inclusion of World Rugby Men's Sevens Breakthrough Player of the Year Kele Lasaqa, whose blistering pace and attacking instincts have already made him one of the game's brightest young stars.
The backs are well supported through the spine, with experienced halfbacks Richard Judd and Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi combining with first fives Lucas Cashmore and Riley Hohepa to provide composure and direction.
Up front, the Steamers boast a battle-hardened pack with no shortage of top-level experience.
Veteran hooker Kurt Eklund returns for what will be his eighth and final season in Bay of Plenty colours, bringing leadership and professionalism after an outstanding career that has included Māori All Blacks and extensive Super Rugby experience. He is joined by seasoned campaigners Seuseu Naitoa Ah Kuoi, Joe Johnston and Tevita Mafileo, forming the backbone of a pack capable of matching the competition's best.
The loose forwards are equally well stocked, with Veveni Lasaqa, Nikora Broughton, Kalin Felise, Trent Ririnui and Jai Knight providing a strong balance of physicality, work rate and athleticism.
With proven experience through the forwards and genuine game-breakers across the backline, Bay of Plenty enter the 2026 Hilux NPC with a squad that has the talent to play an exciting brand of rugby while matching the physical demands of the competition.
