Manawatū player Josh Taula suspended for three weeks

Manawatū player Josh Taula has received a three-week suspension from the New Zealand Rugby (NZR) judiciary.

Taula’s suspension comes after he was red carded for foul play during his team’s Bunnings Warehouse NPC match against Wellington on Saturday, August 5, in the competition’s opening round.

The Duty Judicial Officer (DJO) accepted Taula’s admission of guilt and ruled his foul play to be at the mid-range of offending, as a result of contact to the head, resulting in a starting point suspension of six weeks.

Due to available mitigating factors and the DJO’s discretion under NZR’s Disciplinary Rules, the DJO reduced Taula’s sanction by half, from six weeks to three weeks.

Taula will miss Manawatū’s matches on August 13, 18 and 25 of the 2023 Bunnings Warehouse NPC competition.

Hawke’s Bay player Palu Moomoonga suspended for three weeks

A three-week suspension has been given to Hawke’s Bay player Palu Moomoonga from the New Zealand Rugby (NZR) judiciary.

Moomoonga’s suspension comes after she was cited for foul play during her Farah Palmer Cup (FPC) Presented by Bunnings Warehouse match against Wellington on Sunday, August 6.

The Duty Judicial Officer (DJO) accepted Moomoonga’s admission of guilt and ruled her tackle to be at the lower to middle face of offending, resulting in a suspension of six weeks.

Due to mitigating factors and the DJO’s discretion under NZR’s Disciplinary Rules, given Moomoonga’s admissions of guilt, the DJO reduced her sanction by half, from a starting point of six weeks to three weeks.

Moomoonga is set to miss out on the following FPC matches; August 12, August 20 and August 26.
