Ten teams remain in contention for the grand final, with the final two quarter-final berths still up for grabs for teams ranked sixth to tenth on the ladder.
Tasman 45 Bay of Plenty 26
Tasman overcame an early Bay of Plenty challenge to run out 45-26 winners at Trafalgar Park, scoring seven tries to four.
The Steamers struck first when Fehi Fineanganofo finished a kick through, although Riley Hohepa missed the conversion. Shannon Frizell replied for Tasman, with William Havili also unable to convert.
Fineanganofo grabbed his second after a sustained Bay of Plenty attack, this time with Hohepa converting to make it 5-12.
Tasman then took control. Eli Oudenryn crossed from close range, before Maloni Kunawave finished a slick attacking movement, and Cooper Roberts stretched the lead further before halftime, with Havili converting all three to make it 26-12.
Kyren Taumoefolau finished a flowing passing move after the break, with Havili converting. Noah Hotham added another try soon after, with Havili again successful.
Bay of Plenty hit back through Aisake Vakasiuola, with Aaron Gibbs converting, before Macca Springer answered immediately for Tasman.
Taine Kolose scored a late consolation for the Steamers, with Gibbs converting to complete the 45-26 scoreline.
Auckland 34 Manawatū 40
Manawatū held on for a thrilling 40-34 victory over Auckland at Eden Park after the sides traded 12 tries.
Auckland made the perfect start when Nathaniel Pole powered over from the pack. Alex Harford converted, before Pole grabbed his second after another close-range attack.
Manawatū responded through Mosese Bason, with Drew Wild converting, before Raymond Tuputupu was driven over by the maul. Reece MacDonald converted to put the Turbos 14-12 ahead at halftime.
Auckland regained momentum after the break. Caleb Woodley finished a slick passing move, but Harford missed the conversion. Manawatū immediately answered through Liam O'Connor, who finished a powerful attack, with O'Connor converting his own try.
Randall Baker then crossed for Auckland, although Rico Simpson missed the conversion. Manawatū pulled away through tries from Rory Woods and Jai Tamati, with O'Connor converting Tamati's try. Che Clark replied for Auckland, with Xavi Taele converting.
Feleti Sae-Ta'ufo'ou then scored for Manawatū, with O'Connor converting to put the Turbos 11 points ahead, before Siale Pahulu finished Auckland's final attacking movement. Taele's conversion attempt was unsuccessful. The Turbos held on to claim an invaluable six-point win.
Northland 19 Counties Manukau 22
Counties Manukau secured a dramatic 22-19 victory over Northland at Semenoff Stadium to claim the Ranfurly Shield for the first time in 13 years, with AJ Alatimu kicking the winning penalty late in the match.
The Taniwha opened the scoring through Sam Nock after breaking through the Counties defence. Rivez Reihana converted to make it 7-0.
Counties responded through Sione Molia, who picked up from the base of a ruck to score. Alatimu missed the conversion, leaving Northland 7-5 ahead.
James Ramm then finished a Northland attack, with Reihana converting to extend the lead to 14-5 at halfime.
Counties fought back through Gibson Popoali'i. Alatimu converted to bring the Steelers within two points.
Northland restored their advantage through Corey Evans, who finished after sustained pressure. Reihana was unable to add the conversion, leaving the score 19-12.
Counties refused to go away though. Adam Morrison then produced a crucial try, finishing in the corner after a penetrating attacking move. Alatimu converted from the touch line to level the scores at 19 apiece.
With the match in its final stages, Alatimu stepped up from the tee and landed a penalty to put the Steelers ahead 22-19. The Steelers held on to claim an historic three-point victory.
Canterbury 34 Southland 21
Canterbury overcame a determined Stags challenge to win 34-21 at One NZ Stadium, scoring six tries to three.
The home side opened the scoring through Corey Kellow after nine minutes, with Andrew Knewstubb converting.
Southland responded through Michael Manson, with Jimmy Taylor converting to level the scores.
Ngatungane Punivai restored Canterbury's lead before Gus Brown crossed just before halftime, putting the hosts 17-7 ahead.
Southland came out strongly after the break. Captain Sean Withy crossed after three minutes, with Mika Muliaina converting to bring the Stags within three points.
Canterbury immediately responded through Finlay Brewis, who crossed to make it 22-14. And Gus Brown then grabbed his second try in the 60th minute, stretching the lead to 27-14. The conversions were unsuccessful.
Southland refused to surrender, with Semisi Ta’eiloa scoring with six minutes left on the clock. Muliaina converted to reduce the deficit to six points.
Canterbury finished strongly with Oli Burra crossing with a minute remaining, and Knewstubb converted to complete the 34-21 victory.
North Harbour 32 Otago 21
North Harbour overturned an early 14-point deficit to beat Otago 32-21 at North Harbour Stadium, scoring four unanswered tries in the second half.
The visitors made a flying start when Sam Nemec-Vial pounced on a loose ball and raced away to score. Cam Millar converted before Kieran McClea added another try after Otago recovered a loose ball. Millar converted again to make it 14-0.
North Harbour began their comeback through Sam Tuitupou, who crossed after sustained pressure. Cam Howell converted, before adding a penalty goal on the stroke of half time to see the score at the break 10-14 to the visitors.
Rory Taylor crossed to put Harbour ahead 15-14 three minutes into the second stanza. The conversion was unsuccessful though, making it a one-point ball game.
George Reeves then powered through the middle to extend the lead, with Howell converting to make it 22-14.
Harbour continued to dominate possession and Oscar Koller finished another close-range attack. Howell converted to push the advantage to 29-14.
Coby Miln then kicked a penalty before Otago found a late consolation through Finn Hurley. Millar converted, but Harbour held on for a 32-21 victory.
Wellington 10 Waikato 34
Waikato produced a strong second-half performance to beat Wellington 34-10 at Hnry Stadium.
Wellington struck first and immediately through Stanley Solomon, who scored a stunning solo try in the opening minutes. Callum Harkin's conversion attempt was unsuccessful though.
Waikato responded through Sean Ralph, who finished from close range. Taha Kemara converted to put the visitors ahead.
Jahrome Brown then picked up from the base of the ruck to score, with Kemara adding the extras. Brown was involved again as Waikato extended their lead before halftime through Sefo Kautai, who crossed from close range. Kemara converted to make it 21-5 at the break.
Waikato continued to build pressure after the break. Brown grabbed his second try, although Kemara missed the conversion.
Sekope Lopeti-Moli then finished a slick Wellington attack, with Harkin unable to convert.
D'Angelo Leuila added a penalty before Daiki Nakajima finished a flowing Waikato passing move in the final minutes. Leuila's conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
The result gave Waikato a 34-10 victory, with five tries to Wellington's two.
Hawke's Bay 14 Taranaki 50
Taranaki produced another dominant performance on the road, beating Hawke's Bay 50-14 at McLean Park after scoring a series of tries through powerful forward play and sharp attacking movements.
Bradley Slater opened the scoring with a powerful maul try, before Josh Lord finished a flowing Taranaki attack, with Jacomb again adding the extras.
Arese Poliko crossed after Taranaki repeatedly threatened the line, and Jacomb converted to make it 21-0 at half time.
Bradley Slater crossed again shortly afterwards, with Jacomb unable to convert. Adam Lennox finished another attacking movement, with Jacomb converting, before Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens crossed and Jacomb added the extras, seeing the Bulls 40 points to the good.
Hawke's Bay did get on the scoreboard through Lukas Ripley, with Harry Godfrey converting. But JJ Pokai crossed for Taranaki, before Seta Tamanivalu added another try with four minutes left on the clock.
Hawke's Bay scored a second try through Hunter Morrison in the final minutes, with Godfrey converting.
Taranaki's attacking effort secured a 50-14 victory at McLean Park. The Bulls' try scorers were Slater (2), Lord, Poliko, Flanders, Lennox, Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens, Pokai and Tamanivalu.
