Northland have already beaten Canterbury this season, in an epic 12-36 scoreline, to win the Ranfurly Shield no less.
That result broke a drought of 48 years without the Log o’ Wood, and the Taniwha will have no shortage of confidence in repeating their historic feat on Labour Day Monday.
The red and blacks meanwhile will be desperate to record Canterbury’s second trophy lift in a few weeks under the new roof after the Farah Palmer Cup Premiership final saw the mainlanders lift the first-ever rugby trophy won there.
